Can an ironing service really be better for me?

Why use an ironing service?
As a young child I watched my mother spend a couple of evenings every week doing the ironing for the whole family and wondered why . It was obvious she detested the job yet she did it every week. With a husband and three sons to look after she must have been doing a couple of dozen shirts Shirts and dresses seemed to pile up on the back of the armchair as she steam pressed them before hung them on hangers ready to take upstairs .
I never realised just how much that chore of ironing with all the bending down then picking up that heavy steam iron was taking out of her.
When I later got married I realised I was seeing my new wife becoming physically tired before collapsing into the armchair at the end of the evening’s ironingand quickly fall asleep. I decided to give her a break and offered to do it for her next time. Unfortunately that next time didn’t materialise into action until after she had taken seriously ill and we were left with no choice if the kids were to be properly dressed for school
Ironing those two school uniforms and a clean shirt for myself as well had me thinking. If I was struggling so much to do it should we be looking at getting it done for us The next day I was discussing it with colleagues sharing the office about what they would do if they were me.
Caroline said how about buying in a home help but I was a very wary to even think about that. My wife would notlike the idea of a another person coming into thehome and cleaning up for us . Then Jane said Aberdeen Ironing Service calls round at her flat on a Monday night to collect her ironing and take it away. It was then returned a day later in perfect conditionand ready to wear.
I went to the web and quickly found their website. They certainly seemed to be offering a ironing service in Aberdeen so I got in touch there and then. Carol sent someone round the next night and took away our ironing allowing my wife and I the chance to relax over a bottle of white wineand a film.
We were both looking forward to getting that first load of ironing back with dare I say it some mixed feelings and some concerns. Wondering how well it would be done was top of the list. My wife has always been a bit of a perfectionist but item by item it had been returned perfectly presented and either on hangers or neatly folded.
Following that experience I drew up some criteria which you may be intersted in reading before hiring any ironing service company.
Pricing. We certainly found a big difference in pricing structures. We found a number of ironing service companies would price per item, some charge according to weight whilst some provided bags or boxes. Different pricing structures makes it if not impossible to choose a company based on price.
Convenience. Do they offer a collection/delivery service? Or do you have to go to them?
How much does the collection/Delivery cost? Are the days and times suitable for your needs?
If at all possible talk to other customers about quality and relaiblity of the service.
Is an ironing service worth the money? The chance to relax for an extra evening each week was worth very penny to our relationship.
