Master Cleanse, A 5 Day Experiment

Posted By Connie on December 30, 2010

During my research into fasting, I came across the Master Cleanse diet, it appears to be a very popular one and is considered pretty solid. Most recently it was brought into the media’s attention again by Beyonce giving credit to the cleanse for their getting into shape.

Reports of other’s experiences were very encouraging to me and gave me an idea of what to expect. I contacted a few people about their experiences with the master cleanser and some did not get past day 2 or 3 which appears to be where most stumble. As most fasts require not eating I have never been able to stick with it for more than a day. This lemonade diet at least allows some nourishment (the drink used for cleansing which uses lemons is why it is also known as the lemonade diet.)

The Master Cleanse follows a simple routine, however it isn’t exactly easy. Even with so few rules to follow it can be trying due to the will power required to get past the first few days. Luckily I came across a book that gives you lots of tips and tricks to make the Master Cleanse a much smaller challenge.

One thing touted is the weight loss from the diet but that was never my main concern. I am looking to get the toxin cleansing that it was originally created for. I felt really tired and sluggish lately and enough people have told me how much better they feel after a fast that I went for it once more.

From what I’ve been reading the typical amount of time spent on the master cleanse diet is ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time. I had no intention of going longer than 5 days as a trial run to see how I reacted. Considering I never made it past 2 days before that was quite an accomplishment.

I have to give credit to the secrets book. It was a great resource that kept me going when I hit a sticking point . Just from reading it I had much more confidence in my chance of success. The extra confidence surely led to my success.

Luckily I went to see my doctor for a check-up recently so the timing was good. I strongly urge anyone interested in trying any kind of fast to speak with their doctor first to make sure everything is OK before diving in.

I fell so much better after the 5 day cleanse that I think I am going to go for the full ten days next time. One suggestion I can offer is to take it easy when trasnitioning back into eating (the secrets book gives excellent guidance on this.)
